The Politics of the game called Politics...
Putin says suspects U.S. provoked Georgia crisis
“… The suspicion arises that someone in the United States especially created this conflict with the aim of making the situation more tense and creating a competitive advantage for one of the candidates fighting for the post of U.S. president.”
Here's the complete link: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080828/pl_nm/georgia_ossetia_putin_dc
As crazy as it sounds, I'm honestly NOT suprised if this is true. But I'm hoping they're better than that...

Banksy hits New Orleans
Banksy has made a living ruling the streets of England with his provocative, political and damn good masterful execution of stencil graffiti. Recently taking a visit to New Orleans, Banksy attacks yet another flurry of buildings with his trademark style, obviously referencing some of the latest political problems troubling our nation.

La Vie Mayhem...Late-Night Bohemia in Hollywood

They say pianos are the new burlesque.
Well, maybe they don't—but when the man behind Melrose's tassel-friendly Forty Deuce (R.I.P.) opens a surreal new restaurant and piano bar, you're there. Ivan Kane's Cafe Wa s (that's not a typo—more on the name later) finally opens Saturday.
As soon as you step inside, you might feel like you've already had a few of their drinks served in flasks—but not to worry, you really are seeing a giant staircase that doesn't lead anywhere, hidden lounges, a candle-covered balcony and a 1924 baby grand on a revolving podium. Think old-style speakeasy... if speakeasies had large patios visible from major intersections, closed at 2am and served brunch on the weekends.
Once you know your vision isn't compromised, focus upon your Moules Frites or the Bistro Burger (topped with prosciutto, brie and a fried egg) while surprise guests show up behind that piano. (Probably not in pasties.)
And as for the place's strange name with the extra space—close your eyes and picture the neon Schwab's sign atop the building, still advertising the famed spot that used to be here, then visualize the first three letters and the b all going dark. So you're now only seeing the w, the a and the s still lit—a nod to history, in neon.
Assuming you haven't hit the flask too hard.
Ivan Kane's Cafe Wa s, 1521 N. Vine St (N. of Sunset), Hollywood, 323-466-5400
Cause if you're not really here...then the stars don't even matter...

And it comes to and end...

After years of build up and an amazing opening ceremonies followed by memorable and historic performances by athletes from all around the world, we bring everything to a close. Having personally attended the Opening Ceremonies, I was watching in awe as the games came to a close last night. As the flame we saw ignite now slowly become extinguished, I can't help but feel sad for it is now officially over. I'm proud of the show China has put on, yet there are issues in which they went about doing things that were not always "right". I can't wait to see what China has in store for it's future given it's rate of growth and development in everything. Thank You China for the great time. It's given me memories to last a lifetime...

Vancouver 2010 here I come.
London...see you in 4 years.

Whiz, Kazuki X ACU Peking Duck
While I was at Beijing, I had the chance to check out the Flagship Adidas Store at "The Village". There I saw the preview of the Whiz, Kazuki X ACU Peking Duck Shirt. However, it was the day before the release of the shirt as well as the launch of the Adidas AZX Launch featuring ACU's Adidas design. Here are photos of the shirt.

*sidenote...the shirt looks sick as shit in the black colorway.

Lavo

You love Tao Las Vegas. Its beach. Its restaurant. Its nightclub. Its centeredness. If you had to find a flaw, it would be that there's only one of it. Or at least there used to be...
Presenting Tao's younger, more Mediterranean, bathhouse-ier sibling, Lavo.
We're sure you've heard of Lavo, this marble-everywhere, Mediterranean bathhouse-inspired production from the people who brought you Tao. And now that its opening is just days away—if all goes well—we figured it was time you got a proper walkthrough.
You'll start your evenings in the lounge, where, on your way to the curved marble bar, you'll notice low chandeliers and a trove of authentic Moroccan antiquities. From here, veer off to the 110-seat hookah patio or proceed to the restaurant, where chef Ludo Lefebvre arrives from LA's Bastide to serve you shareable Spanish, French and Italian dishes and pizzas.
Your stomach happy, you'll stride across a glass-and wood-screened bridge—flanked by more than a dozen Turkish water basins—toward the second-floor nightclub. It's here where you'll let loose in Tao-like fashion, from a VIP leather banquette, at one of 30 tables or working the massive room until 5am.
If you look up, you'll also appreciate an interactive dome above the dance floor, transporting you to faraway locales via planetarium-like equipment.Although why you'd want to be anywhere else, we're not sure.
Lavo at the Palazzo, 3325 Las Vegas Boulevard South, 702-791-1800 (restaurant), 702-791-1818 (nightclub)

WOW...I hope this is a bad joke or something...

"Spain's Olympic basketball teams have risked upsetting their Chinese hosts by posing for a pre-Games advert making slit-eyed gestures. The advert for a courier company, which is an official sponsor of the Spanish Basketball Federation, occupied a full page in the sports daily Marca, the country's best-selling newspaper.
The advert features two large photographs, one of the men's basketball team, above, and one of the women's team. Both squads pose in full Olympic kit on a basketball court decorated with a picture of a Chinese dragon. Every single player appears pulling back the skin on either side of their eyes. The advert carries the symbol of the sport's governing body.
No one involved in the advert appears to have considered it inappropriate nor contemplated the manner in which it could be interpreted in China and elsewhere. No offence was intended by the advert, but whether the Chinese see it that way is a different matter and it is likely to provoke more criticism at a delicate time for Spanish sport. The failure to recognise the potential consequences is striking in the light of the problems Spain has had with issues of race and the Spanish Olympic committee's continued desire to host the Games in Madrid in 2016 or 2020. "
I really hope the 2016 bid goes to Tokyo.
